Combining hikes with yoga is a novel way to enjoy a trek in Nepal. This may be the ideal combination! Yoga to loosen up your tired body after putting it through some intense walking will help you bounce back. 5 to 6 hours of trekking per day followed by yoga exercises is a winning formula!

TREK & YOGA IN THE ANNAPURNA REGION

The practice of Yoga will provide mental and muscular relaxation to help quick recovery from a tiring hike.  This tour offers a holistic approach to trekking in Nepal after some sight-seeing of World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley. It takes us to the southern slopes of the Annapurna region. A professional Yoga teacher and our seasoned guide will accompany you throughout your stay.

Day

Paris - Kathmandu (1,350m) flight (with one-stop). Transfer to the monastery of Nyido in Pharping (1 ½ hr drive from Kathmandu). Stay at the Guesthouse of a monastery where we get an opportunity to attend some Buddhist rituals.  There, we will enjoy the facility of a beautiful Yoga hall overlooking the green and peaceful Bagmati Valley.  
- Accommodation: Dondrub Guest House or similar at Boudha on BB Basis.

In the morning, our guide will introduce us to the Yoga teacher. Introduction, briefing, and Yoga initiation follows.
After the Yoga session, we visit the renowned Hindu shrine Pashupatinath, dedicated to Lord Shiva where cremations take place along the river banks. We get to see an important community of yogis and sadhus, followed by lunch in Boudha. Then visit the revered Boudha stupa and the surrounding Tibetan monasteries.

Leaving Kathmandu, we take a 6 to 7-hour drive to the enchanting Pokhara valley and reach the banks of the Phewa Lake in the tourist hub. We will stay at Pokhara Heights. Overlooking the lake, it’s a small, quiet hotel with a swimming pool and a large space for Yoga practice.

We drive to Beni on a private vehicle (3 hours). Then 1 hour off-road up to Gunmetal (900 m). We then walk uphill towards Banskharka village.
We dine in a community Dining Hall and stay at a Homestay in Banskharha (1,526m).

The first day’s hike takes only an hour before we reach the large Magar village of Nangi. We go further on and stop for lunch at Danda Kateri village (2000m) (Community Dining Hall). We then walk back up to Nangi village where we enjoy our dinner and spend the night at the Community Lodge.

This day brings the biggest climb of our trip and we are rewarded with an astonishing view of 28 summits above 6 000m. We start our day with a gradual uphill hike through a beautiful forest of Rhododendrons. Then we climb up to reach the Hampal Bhanjyang Pass (3,090m). Following this, we hike on the ridge of the mountains to reach Mohare Danda where we stop for some yoga practice in an exceptionally quiet and peaceful environment.

Today, we walk through a dense forest up to Ghorepani and further up to Poon Hill which has amazing views of the Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna massifs. The sunrise view with the ever-changing colorful lights on the mountains is outstanding. From Ghorepani, we move on to Deurali. The Gurung Tower above the lodge serves as a great viewpoint with a splendid panoramic view.

The trail now goes uphill through a forest up to the top of Muldai (3,600m) from where we enjoy great views. We go further on and stop for lunch at Dobato. From there it is downhill all the way to Tadapani.

We have yet another uphill climb through a forest to Tadapani where we come across many Langur monkeys with long tails. Further on, we go through Ghandruk which is a beautiful Gurung village with adorable traditional houses made of dry stones. There are amazing views of the Annapurna and Machapuchare (Fish Tail Mountain) from this vantage point. Finally, we walk down toward the Kimrong Khola (river). Down at the river, we cross via a suspension bridge before hiking up to Landruk.

Today we walk on a gradual incline which then becomes slightly steeper (towards the end) up to the low pass of Deurali. We then start walking on the slope of a mountainside, following which we go through the woods up to the beautiful Gurung village of Lwang, where locals grow tea in plantations. We are welcomed by the Village Women’s Committee, who will feed us and make arrangements for our accommodation. We then have a session of yoga practice on the terrace of our Homestay.

We’ve come to the end of our trek and have just an hour’s walk left down to the bridge. Then we have an easy walk to Lhachowk where our car awaits to take us back to Pokhara and our hotel.

Catch a domestic flight back to Kathmandu. Transfer to Vajra Hotel close to Swoyambhu to spend the night. Visit the Stupa and have a session of yoga.
- Accommodation: Hotel Vajra on Basis.

Visit and explore Pharping where we climb up to the revered cave where Guru Rinpoche once meditated and left his footprint. We then proceed to the Daksinkali temple, famous for animal sacrifices to goddess Kali. The Shesh Narayan Hindu Shrine is also nearby. We have lunch and drive down to Patan which is known for fine statue making and many old monuments besides the famous Patan Museum Durbar Square.

Airport Transfer to TIA (Kathmandu Airport) for the return flight. Reach your destination either on the same evening or the following morning.
