Upper Mustang Ride the Adventure
Royal Enfield Himalayan Expedition. A journey frozen in time, through one of the last living kingdoms of the Himalayas.
Upper Mustang, also known as the Kingdom of Lo, is a former Himalayan principality that remained isolated from the rest of the world for a long time. Located north of the Annapurna massif on the Tibetan border, it was once part of the Tibetan Empire of Ngari before being integrated into Nepal in the 18th century. Its capital, Lo Manthang, was founded in the 15th century and still preserves its fortified walls, ancient Buddhist monasteries, and deeply rooted Tibetan traditions. In terms of landscape, Upper Mustang is distinguished by its high-altitude deserts, ochre cliffs, deep canyons, and windswept plateaus, reminiscent more of Tibet than the lush green valleys of central Nepal. The contrasts between fertile valleys, snow-capped peaks, and cave hermitages make it a region of rare and mystical beauty—a true "Hidden Tibet" within Nepal.
